  • WHAT IS UNIFIED MESSAGING?

Unified messaging solutions take a host of communications technologies and deliver them to one or more medium. If this sounds complicated, from a user's standpoint it's not.

    UNIFIED MESSAGING

The most common method of delivering this solution is to send all messages to email. Thus the email user would receive all emails (?) and in additionally faxes sent to them would be forwarded and telephone messages forwarded - usually as a WAV or MP3 file that can be listened to using something as simple as windows media player.

However more sophisticated options are available - this can include 'clever' software that will read a fax or email and deliver it as a voice message - that can be picked up by telephone (home, office, mobile, hotel etc). In out of office scenarios, collection via telephone is usually protected by a passkey. Systems can also employ filtering - for example a Sales Director could chose to receive messages to his/her phone only from his/her key customers, PA and MD.
